Jody A. Mooney has over two decades of litigation and trial experience in insurance defense, as well as labor and employment law. Jody worked full-time as an insurance defense paralegal and law clerk while she attended college and law school at night.
In 1997, Jody graduated magna cum laude from Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales with her B.A. in Psychology. In 2001, she graduated from Temple University – James E. Beasley School of Law with her J.D. During law school, Jody worked as a legal intern with the Honorable Arnold J. Rapoport, United States Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
With regard to her insurance defense experience, Jody has defended individuals and insurance companies in hundreds of personal injury claims through all facets of litigation, both pre-trial and post-trial. She has tried numerous jury and bench trials through verdict. She has extensive experience with arbitrations and mediations. She has argued before the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania and the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
Jody also has extensive experience in the area of labor and employment law. Her experience includes handling grievances, unfair labor practice charges, and matters before Pennsylvania Licensing Bureaus. She has also served as lead negotiator in collective bargaining negotiations between unions and employers.
Ms. Mooney has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star on three occasions. She is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, New York, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Jody is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Lehigh County Bar Association, and the New York Bar Association. She also serves as an arbitrator for the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas.
Personal Life
In her personal time, Jody enjoys watching her daughter compete in figure skating competitions, swimming meets, and diving meets. Jody is also an avid fan of the NFL and is a proud three-time veteran of the Pittsburgh Steeler’s Women’s Training Camp.
